Gather Your Ingredients
Before we dive into the wonderful world of cookie baking, let’s make sure we have all the necessary ingredients. You will need:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups chocolate chips
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking soda. Set aside.
Cream the Butter and Sugars
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. This can be done using an electric mixer or by hand.
Add the Vanilla and Eggs
Once the butter and sugars are well combined, add the vanilla extract and eggs. Mix until everything is fully incorporated.
Incorporate the Dry Ingredients
Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition. Continue until all the dry ingredients are fully incorporated.
Add the Chocolate Chips
Gently fold in the chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the cookie dough.
Shape and Bake the Cookies
Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Make sure to leave enough space between each cookie to allow for spreading.
Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may appear slightly undercooked, but they will firm up as the cookies cool.
Cool and Enjoy!
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, grab a glass of milk and indulge in these delicious homemade cookies!
